Adobe Bookstore Visit

The Adobe Bookstore was mentioned last week because its books were to be arranged by color (by a local artist), for one week only. I visited the bookstore on Sunday and I've brought back pictures.

Adobe is a cozy used book store, roughly rectangular and extending back from the street perhaps 150-200 feet. When you walk in, there is the cash register to your left and a sofa to your right. The walls of the store are lined with bookcases and there are some more bookcases in the middle of the store. There are also some more sofas and chairs and a fat cat (asleep when I visited).

The books on the wall bookcases are the ones that were arranged by color. Clockwise from the left entrance, they ran from red and magenta to orange, yellow, green, blue, yellow, tan, white, and black. Here are the photos. (Click to enlarge.)

Here is an interview with artist Chris Cobb, who arranged this installation.

Here is Adobe's homepage, which currently features the event.

That's amazing! Thanks for the photos.

I was totally intrigued by the initial description of this. It's beautiful! Thanks.

Just echoing the others: that looks great. Thanks for posting those.

i wonder who had to put them back in normal order! it is amazingly lovely, though.

I went and saw them today. It was lovely, and oddly moving. I didn't want to leave.
And Addie, they said the artist and his friends/volunteers rearranged them, and will also put them back. I bet he could use some help!
Go see it if you get the chance. The fellow behind the counter was saying it may be extended for a week, and they're having a party down there tomorrow evening for another opening, but the books will be up and all are welcome.
